Class of 2020
2020: A Year of Growth and Gratitude
It has been a busy year for Gillian’s Greyhound Adoption (GGA), and we’re overjoyed to have welcomed so many retired racers and loving homes into the GGA family. Despite the challenges brought on by COVID-19, we were fortunate to continue importing retired athletes and matching them with their forever families. In 2020, GGA proudly placed 18 retired racing greyhounds into homes. It’s been a pleasure getting to know all of you, and your updates bring joy to us and to your greyhound's racing and kennel families. Seeing how these incredible dogs settle into their next chapter of life never fails to make us smile.
This year, GGA was thrilled to form new friendships and collaborations with the Northwest Canadian Greyhound League and Greyhound Pet Adoptions of Delaware. Together, we’ve expanded our reach and assisted even more hounds into their forever homes. We are grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such passionate advocates for retired greyhounds.
As we head into 2021, we already have a growing list of retirees waiting to join the GGA family. We are excited to continue building connections and matching these incredible athletes with their perfect homes. Thank you for being part of the journey and making this year so rewarding. Here’s to another year of growth, love, and wagging tails!
The GGA Family
Ruby (Ctw Chanel Five)
The Lord Family
Gotcha Day - February 3, 2020
Ruby was called to the Rainbow Bridge on August 2, 2023 after exhaustive efforts of treating a neck injury of years gone by ceased to bring her quality of life back.
Albert (Alberta)
The Johnson Family
Gotcha Day - February 28, 2020
Albert had a fun summer doing lots of walking and hiking with is bff Brette. He is a local celebrity at the Retirement community where Shelley's Mom lives. He is always polite, friendly and sweet. Like ALberta is. :)
Glide (Craigiewideglide)
The Town Family
Gotcha Day - February 28, 2020
Glide turned 8 in October 2025 and we think he has really come into his own now. He’s a very happy boy, absolutely loves his walks, treats, visitors, and his favourite pastime is watching “Live Critter TV” laying on the back deck being entertained by squirrels, birds and bunnies. He also enjoys snuggling with us on our bed but not until at least 6 in the morning…well that’s our rule not his.
Tripp (Sj Road Trippin)
The Hanley Family
Gotcha Day - May 23, 2020
Tripp has had yet another year of great camping, exploring, hiking, and resulting sleep. He turns 8 in December and is still gong strong!
Ghost (Cbj Ghost Rider)
The Evans Family
Gotcha Day - June 6, 2020
Ghost has had a wonderful year! She loves her naps and treats and has been bonding even more with her human brother, especially when he shares treats with her. Ghost comes alive in the evenings - she’s more vocal in the backyard after dark and enjoys nighttime walks when the roads are quiet. She’s our sweet, sensitive and quirky girl.
Skippy (Amf Strange Bird)
The Artley & Gouin Family
Gotcha Day - July 5, 2020
Skippy (AMF Strange Bird) has had some difficulties in 2025. She woke up on St. Patrick's day paralyzed in her crate. An emergency appt. at her vet brought no answers, so we sought a 2nd opinion with a vet who does chiropractic adjustment, acupuncture and laser treatments. The pinch in her neck resolved fairly quickly, but she continues to receive treatments on her hind end. We've adjusted our activities to keep her comfortable in her new condition. 2025 has been a trying year for our whole family, but we fought hard for our girl, and she continues to love her life as the leader of our pack. We love Skippy very much, and are thankful to have her in our hearts and home. The pictures highlight some of our efforts and her many treatments and vet appts., as well as the support she receives from Brienne (RTSSBrieoneilove).
Eli (Ctw Elias)
The Bernard Family
Gotcha Day - September 6, 2020
Bill (CT's Bill)
The Mancini Family
Gotcha Day - September 12, 2020
What can we say about our Big Buddy Bill?! He lives up to the word "Buddy" every single day. He is always by our side, never wants us out of his eye shot and is a constant source of love and sweetness.... unless one of the other hounds happen to accidentally touch one of his back feet (specifically back feet) when he's napping. Then he wakes up a bit cranky. He is still a guardian in that he alerts us to any and all perceived threats (birds, air planes, kids, bicycles etc etc etc). He is not a fan of sunbathing like his housemates and prefers to be in the climate controlled house, in the couch with his dad or lying prone looking out the window for the aforementioned perceived threats. We love this big goober and has brought smiles and laughter to our faces since we reunited with him and brought him home.
Count (Windy Count)
The Solomon Family
Gotcha Day - October 10, 2020
Count is wishing all his greyt friends a very happy howliday! Count is still lapping up the luxury of his retirement spending his days moving from one bed to the next. At 9 years old now, he is starting to slow down with his running turning into trotting, but still perks up for treats and belly rubs.
This year Count made a couple new friends, including Flicka an energetic 3 year old greyhound who tested his boundaries, in the most loving way, while staying with us a couple of times. A highlight of course was the meet up with all of Gillian’s greyhounds.
Over the years we have had Count, he has become more affectionate, while staying true to his stand-off ways. He is polite and patient and (when he wants to be) and has learned how to communicate with us when he needs something. We love Count more and more each day.
Courage (Amf Odd Sister)
The Rutherford Family
Gotcha Day - October 11, 2020
Courage and Mags (Rs's Magnum, Class of 2020) are doing great. They still ask for two daily walks where they enjoy meeting up with neighbourhood friends. They especially enjoy running into fellow GGA alumni Twister (Tnt Twister City, Class of 2022). Courage continues to show us her confidence and social skills. She has become a consistent couch cuddler with Mags and the family. Mags routinely gives daily hugs & snuggles. We often get told when out on walks that he just seems to know when someone needs a greyhound lean to brighten their day. We couldn’t imagine our family without them.
Gear (Js Geartotherear)
The Wilson & Lamb Family
Gotcha Day - October 20, 2020
Grad (Amf Speed Ticket)
The Hall Family
Gotcha Day - October 24, 2020
Grad had a good year. He enjoyed lazing in the backyard grass more than ever this summer. Sometimes he lies out there so long we have to check and make sure he’s ok - the warm sun and cool grass are too good, so he likes to stay awhile. He is ever sweet, very stoic, and calm (or excitable, like when meeting new cousins this summer). Grad is usually sporting colourful vet tape somewhere from dinging up a toe or leg outside - a bit of a clutz/injury magnet. He likes to pull up to the basement “drive-thru” window for a cookie when he’s outside. Grad and greyhound brother Tucker (Tucker, Class of 2023) are very good buds now. It’s taken a couple of years, but Grad now doesn’t mind a bit of a cuddle and body contact with him while they’re napping together on the couch. He loves to get up on the couch and rest his head on our laps too when the right mood strikes him. Grad’s face is getting mighty grey, but he’s still a big, strong boy who gets playful and zoomy when he’s happy.
Kip Cowboy (Plainsman)
The Moore Family
Gotcha Day - November 27, 2020
2025 was a year of up and downs for Kipperoo! In July he had to have his toe amputated because it kept popping out of joint so the vet thought it was best to come off. While that healed quickly unfortunately his knuckle poked out through the skin and it has just now in Nov fully healed. Good thing Bruce is good with first aid, he changed Kips foot bandage daily! On a good note though, our family was lucky enough to meet Gillian and her crew when they made their way to Nova Scotia this year! Never did we ever think we would meet the lady that made our dreams come true with adopting Kip Cowboy and Phantom (Phantom, Class of 2023)! It was a grey't visit and thank you so much for popping in to see us! Phantom has had an awesome year with her birthday coming up in Dec. She will be turning 4! One thing that she did around Halloween was she saw there were treats on sale at Petsmart online for 3.77 a bag! Well she wasn't long taking a peek at my credit card number and ordered up a bunch lol. But momma, she said, I only ordered 16 bags coz that's how many I had to order to get free shipping!! What a girl! Kip and Phantom met a new Friend this year. His name is Magic and he is such a sweet handsome boy. Magic and his pawrents came camping with us on our lot and they have become grey't friends!!
Mags (Rs's Magnum)
The Rutherford Family
Gotcha Day - December 6, 2020
Mags & Courage (AMF Odd Sister, Class of 2020) are doing great. They still ask for two daily walks where they enjoy meeting up with neighbourhood friends.
