FEATURED STORY
From Track to Couch: Hazel's New Life
Hazel spent four seasons as a professional athlete, known for her focus and quiet intensity on the track. When she first touched the grass outside our facility after retirement, she was unsure of the quiet. The transition from kennel life to a family home is a journey of small discoveries—learning that tiles aren't slippery when you walk with confidence, and that the strange creature in the mirror is just a new friend.
Her adoptive parents, Greg and Linda, understood that patience was the ultimate key. They gave Hazel her own quiet corner and a consistent routine that let her shy personality slowly emerge. The dog who once hesitated at every doorway now greets them with a gentle greyhound lean and a soft 'roo' every morning before breakfast. She has officially found both her voice and her forever place.
Today, Hazel is the undisputed queen of the sectional sofa. She has traded the roar of the crowd for the soft hum of the fireplace, spending her retirement mastering the art of the perfect afternoon nap. Hazel's transformation is a heartwarming reminder that every retired racer, no matter how shy, has a beautiful spirit waiting to unfold in the light of a loving home.
